Damn Yankees: Jee-ter, A-Rod and Wang

I can check off one big To-do on my list: watching the New York Yankees play at Yankee Stadium! I went with the International Students office so my ticket cost a measly $6. I thought they would be total nosebleeds, but the seat was decent - really high up, but along the third-baseline.

True to form, the hotdogs cost $5 (they're usually $1.50 on the street) and the beer was even more. There was tons of cheering and heckling and even one scary-angry fan (he swore at the players when they did something he didn't like). The Yankees were leading but in the 9th inning, with 2 outs, they gave up a 3-run homerun and lost 5-3 to the Detroit Tigers... something the scary-angry guy didn't take too well.

Justin came to NYC for a couple of days. What is it with guys and 1) needing to make good time (when driving any length of long distance), and 2) needing to walk everywhere? on the first day we walked from my place (121 St) to Times Square (42nd St) = 80 blocks!! It's like, they need to boast about it afterwards - to hell with public transportation - these feet were made for walking! Yeah, so we walked a lot of places.

Actually Justin impressed me by planning a lot of stuff for us to do. We ate at Park Avenue Cafe, this semi-swanky place that had a special - 3 courses for the price of your age = $25/person! (the waiter was nice enough to knock 1 year off my age ;)) We also went to listen to jazz at Dizzy's Club at the Time Warner building, a really nice small club with a panoramic view of the city. Justin positively fell in love with the collard greens and I, the mac n' cheese (nothin' like some soul food to ease your mind).

Hey, finally made it to your weblog. It's about time!! Someone who writes as well and as much as you do, it's a shame you didn't publish some of your journal entries earlier. It is weird airing your thoughts to the public world though, isn't it? It's a lot different than keeping a personal journal, that's for sure.

Looking forward to more of your entertaining updates on the exciting life of aliu!
